Stop Buying Redundant Software: Introducing Alternate Suppliers in Purchase Prep

How many tools in your software stack do the same thing? When a renewal comes up, do you know what alternatives exist in the market? Most organizations can't answer these questions quickly, which means missed consolidation opportunities and weaker negotiating positions.

This month, we're rolling out Alternate Suppliers as part of the Purchase Prep Assistant to fix that. Plus three more updates to help you work faster and smarter.

Alternate Suppliers: See what competes before you buy

Organizations waste significant budget on redundant software. Someone requests a new tool without knowing similar functionality already exists. Renewals get approved without exploring consolidation. Negotiators walk in without knowing what alternatives are available.

Alternate Suppliers fixes this by surfacing competitive intelligence directly in your workflow:

  • For your existing stack: See which contracted suppliers offer overlapping functionality. Identify consolidation opportunities before renewal season hits.
  • For new purchases: Get alerted during intake and requests when you're about to buy something that duplicates what you already have. Approvers see the same context before signing off.
  • For negotiations: Research market alternatives without leaving Tropic. Filter by what matters—cost reduction, platform consolidation, or feature expansion—and use competitor pressure to secure better terms.

The data comes from AI analysis validated by our team, drawing from real customer conversations and contract negotiations across the Tropic network. It's competitive intelligence that web research can't match.

What Else Is New

Expert Insights: Now available directly in Tropic

Contract owners and requestors get automatic notifications when new insights are published for suppliers they manage.

No more digging through emails when you need intel at renewal time.

Google Drive Document Uploads

Authenticate once, browse your Drive from within Tropic, and bring files in with a few clicks. Customer Exports Expansion
