Meet Paul, who first joined Tropic's sales organization but recently pivoted to become a Talent Sourcer on our People Operations team. 👋
Paul was the 14th employee at Tropic. He began his journey as a Sales Development Representative (SDR), engaging with prospects to propel the business forward. He brings the same heart, hustle, and grit from his time selling our product into his new role selling our culture and employer brand.
Paul's proudest moment at the company?
...helping lay the foundation of the SDR organization here at Tropic and seeing how far we've come. Every new member always had something to bring to the table and we kept building off that, which made the team better and better.
Learn more about his two-year journey at Tropic, his former dream of becoming a nurse, and more.
▶ What has been your most memorable moment in the last two years at Tropic?
I have two. I loved meeting the team for the first time at WeWork in New York City. I also enjoyed going on our company's Mexico trip. It was my first time snorkeling, and I had a blast with everyone.
▶ What was your proudest moment as an SDR?
I'm proud of helping lay the foundation of the SDR organization here at Tropic and seeing how far we've come. Every new member always had something to bring to the table and we kept building off that, which made the team better and better. It will and always be my favorite team at Tropic. Love you, homies. 💜

▶ How have you grown professionally on the Tropic team?
I owe it all to the people here at Tropic. There were a lot of soft and hard skills that I neglected, but Tropic gave me the opportunity to hone those skills. I remember I wrote one piece of email copy every day and our CRO Isaiah would literally provide feedback for every single one. And to be honest, I abhorred the exercise but I stayed consistent in my work ethic because I knew it would pay dividends.
Everyone here wants to get better and people are willing to help you get there. Super grateful for all of you. 🥂
▶ Why did you decide to switch roles?
Tropic has come a long way (and we’re still just getting started). For one, we've developed a very cool product. However, you could have the coolest product in the world, but it means nothing without the right people behind it. Every single employee contributes to the success of the organization and its culture.
So, the idea of helping bring on like-minded individuals to continue to level up this company really interested me to join the Talent team. Plus, our recruiters know how to hustle and I want to learn from the best of the best.
▶ What are you most looking forward to with your new role on the People Ops team?
Recruiting the best team the world has ever seen. 🛠️
▶ What's a fun fact people would be surprised to know about you?
I originally went to school to pursue my dreams of becoming a pediatric nurse. 🩺
▶ What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Boxing. 🥊
▶ If you could choose 2 celebrities to be your parents, who would they be?
JK Rowling: I’m a huge Harry Potter nerd and I'd love to live in the world she created.
Keanu Reeves: This man is wise, humble, and overall a great human being.
▶ What are three items you cannot live without?
- Airpods. I need music when I go out for a walk/gym.
- Coffee maker. A must!
- Gum. It helps me focus and relieve tension.
▶ If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pho. I will never get tired of it. 🍜
▶ What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t care what others think, focus on yourself, and do you.
